PRODUCT & AVAILABILITY
What is the Stance 180?
The Stance 180 is our all-new compact bow-mount trolling motor, purpose-built for kayak anglers. It gives you precise, hands-free control of the boat. You can stow, deploy, steer, and run GPS functions right from your seat using a wireless remote. It delivers 65 lb of thrust with quiet brushless power and a quick-release mount, so you get true bow-mount performance without the bulk of a traditional big-boat motor.
Is it available yet? When can I buy one?
The Stance 180 debuted at ICAST 2026 and is scheduled to begin shipping in Q1 2027, so it isn't available for purchase just yet. I'd be happy to add you to our notification list so you're among the first to hear about availability and pricing.
How much will it cost?
Pricing (MSRP) hasn't been announced yet — we'll share it closer to the Q1 2027 launch. I can add you to our notification list so you get pricing and availability the moment they're released.
Can I pre-order or reserve one?
Ticket reply. We're not taking consumer pre-orders yet. The best way to stay in the loop is to join our notification list — we'll reach out with pricing, availability, and how to order as soon as the Stance 180 is ready. [Internal: update this answer if a public waitlist / pre-order page goes live.]
FEATURES & PERFORMANCE
Does it have GPS, Spot-Lock, or anchor hold?
Yes — and this is a big one. The Stance 180 is Newport's first trolling motor with onboard GPS. It includes Anchor Lock to automatically hold your position without fighting wind or current, Heading Lock to keep your heading with one button, and Jog to nudge your anchored spot right from the remote. (Our other current motors don't offer GPS positioning, so this capability is new for the Stance 180.)
How much thrust does it have? Is it strong enough for a kayak?
The Stance 180 puts out 65 lb of thrust, which is plenty for kayak-scale boat control and for holding position in wind and current. It runs efficient, quiet brushless power on a 24V/36V system.
Is it quiet?
Yes. The Stance 180 uses a brushless motor, which runs quieter and more efficiently than a traditional brushed motor and needs less maintenance — so you can move in and stay stealthy around fish.
How do I steer and control it?
Everything runs from a floating, water-resistant (IP67) wireless remote, so you can control the motor from your seat. Steering uses Dynamic Remote Steering — an intuitive tactile steering wheel that also indicates prop direction — so you manage speed and direction by feel without looking down.
What happens if I fall out of the kayak?
The Stance 180 includes Wireless MOB (man-overboard) safety that automatically stops the motor if the operator and remote move out of range — so the boat won't motor away from you.
How do I raise and lower it?
The Stance 180 features one-handed stow and deploy — you can raise or drop the motor in one smooth action from a seated position, with no leaning over the bow.
FIT, POWER & SETUP
Will it fit my kayak?
The Stance 180 was engineered from the ground up with a compact, kayak-specific footprint designed to fit modern kayak bows and handle configurations — it's a true kayak solution, not a big-boat motor squeezed onto a kayak. [Internal: confirm the specific mounting / kayak-model compatibility list before promising a fit for a particular boat.]
What's the shaft length?
The Stance 180 has a 36" adjustable shaft, sized for kayak use.
What battery or voltage does it need?
The Stance 180 runs on a 24V or 36V system. We recommend pairing it with Newport LoPRO lithium batteries for the best combination of weight, runtime, and performance. [Internal: confirm recommended battery capacity (Ah) and runtime figures before quoting specific numbers.]
How much does it weigh?
The Stance 180 weighs 20.6 lb, keeping it light enough for easy kayak rigging and transport.
SUPPORT & BUYING
What's the warranty?
The Stance 180 is covered by our 2-year warranty, with free technical support included for the life of the motor. Claims are handled case by case: many issues are resolved with support, others with a no-charge parts replacement during the 2-year period, and if a full unit replacement is ever needed, that's completed at no charge. To keep coverage valid: file claims online with the required documentation, maintain the motor (rinse/flush after each use, store clean and dry, out of the elements), and remove it from the mounting bracket when traveling or when not in use.
How is it different from your NK kayak motors?
Our NK-series motors are kayak drive / transom-style motors. The Stance 180 is a bow-mount motor with GPS boat control — Anchor Lock, Heading Lock, and remote steering — designed for hands-free position-holding and precise, seat-controlled maneuvering from the bow. If you want automatic position hold and fingertip control for kayak fishing, the Stance 180 is the one to watch.
Where will it be sold and how do I buy it?
The Stance 180 will be available through Newport and our authorized dealers when it launches in Q1 2027. The fastest way to be notified the moment it's orderable — along with pricing — is to join our notification list.
